This model commemorates the fifteenh year of the Hot Wheels Newsletter, This Purple Passion was designed by Larry Wood in 1989; the decoration is by Michael Heralda, The purple Passion was originally produced in 1990. 2000 black models were produced for the special dinner at the 15th Annual Hot Wheels Convention, 8000 in yellow are available with subscriptions to the Newsletter.
